   What's on in Parliament

 

THE MAIN BUSINESS FOR THE HOUSE OF COMMONS for the coming week - and the provisional business for the week after - is announced by the Leader of the House of Commons each Thursday at about 11.30am. The Speaker is responsible for allocating short backbench debates in Westminster Hall and at the end of each day's business. In addition to the main business, there are also meetings of select committees, as well as committees who are responsible for detailed scrutiny of bills after they have been debated in the House of Commons chamber.
