The grave and memorial to the 31 members of the 3rd Manchester Regiment who died in a zeppelin raid on 1 April 1916 can be found in Cleethorpes Cemetery. It lies close to the boundary fence with The Beacon Hill allotments. The regiment were in billets in the Baptist Church, Alexandra Road, when the attack took place. Many of the wounded were taken to the Red Cross centre which was based in St Aidan's church. Until recently, on Remembrance Sunday, a wreath was laid at St Peter's church by the Manchester Regiment.
