THE A160 ROAD INTO THE PORT OF IMMINGHAM will receive major improvements as part of plans announced by Sadiq Khan on Monday 22 March. Shona has said that these plans will create real benefits for industry in the port and all along the South Bank.
The Transport Minister released plans to add capacity and improve road safety on the three miles of the A160 leading into the Port of Immingham. It is thought that these improvements will be a catalyst for the future growth of industry at the Port of Immingham as well as leading to a lot more development on the South bank as a whole.
Of the improvements, Shona said:
"In these tough times we need to do as much as possible to encourage growth in the local area. I am delighted that the plans announced will not only improve transport links for the Port of Immingham but will lead to new industry in the area and provide a real boost to the local economy."
The scheme will cost between £89 million and £132 million and is being funded by the Yorkshire and Humber Regional Funding Allocation. The A160 is one of the top priorities for this agency and construction is set to start as early as 2013 with completion in 2015.
