   IT'S CRUELTY FREE FOR ME

SHONA MCISAAC HAS PLEDGED HER SUPPORT for Vote Cruelty Free - a new non-partisan coalition of animal protection charities working to put animals on the political agenda.

The alliance has sent its manifesto to all candidates for the next General Election and asked them to show their support for the issues raised.

Signing up to the campaign at Labour's annual conference in Brighton, Shona said:

'Animal welfare remains the biggest issue in my postbag and email inbox. Whether it's hunting, the ivory trade, farm animal welfare, circuses, greyhounds, the fur trade, animal experiments and a whole host of other great causes, the people I was elected to represent care passionately about animal welfare and cruelty to living creatures - and I do too. That is why I support Vote Cruelty Free.

'If you care about animals, then please pass on this message to your friends, family, work colleagues and neighbours who you know care as much as you do. If we all work together, then we can make a real difference

'And please check out the Vote Crulety Free website - the link is below - it's fantastic
'

A Vote Cruelty Free spokesperson commented:

'Animal protection is an issue close to the UK public's heart but this is often not reflected in current political debate. It's fantastic that Shona has shown she believes in animal protection issues as much as her constituents. We are calling on all candidates to follow her lead by pledging their support for Vote Cruelty Free.'

Vote Cruelty Free comprises the BUAV, Compassion in World Farming, International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW), League Against Cruel Sports and Respect for Animals.  It covers a broad range of animal welfare issues including wild and marine animals, animal experimentation, cruel sports, the fur trade and farming.

Vote Cruelty Free is urging all candidates to pledge their support for the initiative. Voters can track candidates who have signed up by visiting the website at:
