   NEW BY-PASS FOR IMMINGHAM

AS PART OF A RAFT OF ANNOUNCEMENTS made by Sadiq Khan on Monday 23 March, Shona has welcomed news of a new road from the A18 to the A180 that would allow traffic to travel around Immingham.

The Transport Minister has detailed plans to improve access to the Port of Immingham from the south. As part of this, North East Lincolnshire Council's proposed scheme has been approved and the Department of Transport will be investing £6.4 million into the new link-road.

The road will run from the A180 Stallingborough Interchange to the B1210, providing a direct link to the A18. Not only will this improve journey times to and from the port when travelling from the south but will remove heavy Goods Vehicles from Immingham, leading to improved safety and a better environment for residents.

Shona said:

"This will be very welcome news for the people of Immingham who have been campaigning against heavy goods vehicles in their town for a long time. This new road will give a boost to industry at the port by improving journey times. Not only that, but it will improve the lives of people in Immingham with less noise, less air pollution, better safety and generally making Immingham a better place to live."

The by-pass scheme has now reached the next stage of development. When it reaches full approval, £6.437 million will be provided by the Department of Transport for the £7.152 million scheme.
