The visit will be part of an ongoing appraisal and will be used to study the regional economic and financial impacts of a change in tolls on the Humber Bridge. PRIME MINISTER GORDON BROWN HAS PLEDGED FREE ONE-TO-ONE HOME CARE by specialist nurses for cancer sufferers - paid for by reducing hospital admissions. In a speech to the King's Fund, Mr Brown said: 'It's not fair that so many people already struggling with the loss of independence - who have worked hard all their lives and saved for their retirement - are faced with the prospect of running down their savings or selling their homes to fund their care. 'Or that those seeing their parents and grandparents suffering from conditions like Alzheimer's and dementia not only have to watch...

- RESIDENTS SAY 'NO' TO HAMPTON COURT DEVELOPMENT
RESIDENTS IN CURZON AVENUE AND WARWICK ROAD in Cleethorpes have approached Shona to express their opposition to a proposed development of 40 houses at Hampton Court. Commenting on the plans, Shona said: 'I've studied the application in detail and share the concerns about this development. 'It's a small site totally enclosed by Curzon Avenue, Warwick Road and Curzon Court. I believe that the number of homes is too dense for the site. Previous proposals for the site, some years ago, involved 25 bungalows, not 40 homes. 'Also the style of properties - mainly two-storey - is out of keeping...

- HAITI EARTHQUAKE
SHONA HAS RELEASED A STATEMENT about the devastating earthquake in Haiti: "I'm sure that I speak for most people when I say how shocked I've been at the terrible scenes unfolding in Haiti following the earthquake - so many have died and those who survived the initial horror now face untold devastation. The despair wrought upon the Haitian people is almost beyond comprehension. Before the earthquake struck, Haiti was already one of the poorest nations in the world - the government barely functioned, infrastructure was non-existent and finding food and water was a daily struggle. But the scale and urgency...

I know of people who would love to visit more often, but can’t afford it. In our area, this is especially true if you have to cross the Humber Bridge for regular cancer treatment...
