SHONA IS CELEBRATING 3,039 HOMES BEING MADE WARMER in the constituency of Cleethorpes by the Warm Front Scheme.
She congratulates the scheme in the way it is tackling fuel poverty and is urging more residents to come forward and get help with measures that could cut their energy bills by as much as £600 a year.
Warm Front provides grants of up to £3,500 towards insulation and gas heating measures as well as £6,000 for oil heating to low income families, the elderly and people with disabilities.
More than £4.5 million has been invested in Cleethorpes by Warm Front since the scheme started in 2000. Many who have taken advantage of the scheme report average savings on their fuel bills of anything between £300 and £600 a year.
Company eaga, who manage Warm front on behalf of the Government stated:
“applications have hit a record high in the past year with 3039 households in Shona’s constituency benefiting from the scheme. These homes have been helped by a range of efficiency measures including loft and cavity wall insulation, new heating systems and draught proofing.”
As well as benefiting from energy efficiency measures, households who contact eaga can also receive a free benefit entitlement check. To date, 878 homes in the area have taken this check and have increased their average weekly income by £22.11.
To qualify for Warm Front, residents must either own their own home or live in privately rented accommodation and be in receipt of a qualifying benefit. To find out more about the scheme or to see if you qualify, Shona is encouraging residents to contact Warm Front on 0800 316 6014.
